Day 1
Auburn, California is one of those towns you don’t hear about often, but after you visit you make it a point to tell a couple friends to check it out. From all the amazing breweries to gorgeous landscape this spot should definitely be on your list of towns to visit while in California.
We are going to start at Pour Choice, a hidden gem for vanilla lavender latte + biscuit breakfast sandwich! This is California’s first and only craft coffee bar and tap room. The ambiance and quality of drinks is truly unmatched + has to be the only way to start your day right.
After you get your caffeine fix then our Auburn Brewery Tour begins at Station Public House. If you love outdoor dining while in a casual atmosphere this is the perfect pairing for you. They have so many beers on tap, but the best part in the summer when it’s so hot they have misters to cool you down !
Next up is a local favorite called Crooked Lane Brewing Company. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and dog friendly, serving up food from their own kitchen in addition to rotating food trucks. The brewery also has their own list of favorite hikes.
Plenty of beer to walk off and a great spot for that is Quarry Road Trail. This trail has beautiful river access and is a wonderful place to walk, run and bike with friends , family or pets. If you are into rock climbing they have that as well. Let’s not forget the camera as well this place has some great photo opportunities too!
Now that you are good and tired I am sure food is on your mind and my go to spot to dine out is The Auburn Ale House. The beer is all local and you can’t beat the location right in Old Town. If you love comfort food with a brew pub atmosphere you are going to love hanging out here for the rest of your night.
What a day! Now it’s time to pass out in style. The newly rebranded Hotel Vista Sierra is just the place for a relaxing night. The hotel is set on top of a hill with a beautiful view of the mountains. The rooms are spacious and clean. Also the location is what makes it the hotel I highly recommend since it is so close to all the breweries and trails you will want to explore.
Day 2
Start at Awful Annie’s and eat everything! Just kidding, but not really as this is the best brunch spot in Auburn. From the amazing Bloody Mary’s to bacon flights. You won’t forget this spot and will be talking about it after your trip.
After I’d highly suggest going to hike off the food you just devoured at the Lake Clementine Trail. This trail passes under the tallest bridge in California and there is a waterfall that is absolutely beautiful at the end.
But the best part is a little ways into the hike the trail leads to a swimming hole. Which is very refreshing especially since most of the hike is not shaded and gets pretty warm in the summer.
Now what’s better after a hike than a beer! One of my all time favorite breweries has to be Moonraker Brewery. The ideal spot for larger groups , families and pets with their spacious outdoor area. Great beer and great vibes at this pretty popular spot in Auburn. Also they always have amazing food trucks and I can’t say no to a good food truck.
After, I’d recommend grabbing a shower first and then food at Auburn Pasquale’s Ristorante, an authentic Italian eatery right off Highway 80 in Old Town Auburn. If you like a great atmosphere and Northern Italian cuisine this is the spot. This family-owned operation operates under the mantra that they are “a casual eatery where comfort meets culinary creativity, offering a diverse menu that satisfies all appetites.”
