  • Ghosts of Placer County

    Roseville, CA

    Ghosts of Placer County

Professional regional theater company, Placer Repertory Theater, presents Ghosts of Placer County with an all-professional cast on the Oakmont mainstage. This play could be said to be about ghostly echoes, or about how individual and community history haunts us, and how we haunt our history to help define ourselves. While technically a drama, this play is full of humor and charm as we meet the loveable but dysfunctional characters who will steal your heart as they depict common triumphs and frailties.

  • AST Presents: Mick Martin’s Blues Rockers (Katie Knipp Opening)

    Auburn, CA

AST Presents: Mick Martin’s Blues Rockers (Katie Knipp Opening)

Leading this dynamic show is Northern California Blues Americana Siren Katie Knipp, equipped with powerful vocals and playing a variety of instruments – from boogie woogie piano to slide guitar, with honest harmonica-laden stories in between. Following this opening act is Mick Martin, who has been producing and hosting the Blues for more than 25 years, beginning with “The KZAP Blues Show” in August of 1989. He joined the staff of KXJZ in July 1991 to create “Mick Martin’s Blues Party,” each week presenting a fresh, no-repeat blues program: new releases by blues artists, classic releases placed in a historical or thematic context and album tracks by performers whose handful of best-known songs are played to death on rock radio. “I call it the antidote to the ‘music of your life’ approach,” Martin says, “Don’t get me wrong, hits are hits for a reason, but what about all the other great music made by popular artists that are seldom, if ever, heard?”

Auburn Symphony Presents: “Masterworks III: Musical Portraits”

Belonging to the stars, the atmospheric masterpiece “Sidereus” showcases the sparkle of the orchestra and is one of the most popular pieces for orchestra written in the last twenty years! With “Cello Concerto No. 1 in E-Flat Major, Op. 107” Shostakovich stamped his musical initials right into this piece.  You will hear the DSCH theme throughout all of the movements of this powerful and driving masterpiece. Elgar’s “Enigma Variations Op. 36” was composed in fourteen variations to represent the composer’s friends, family – and even himself.  One of music’s most touching and sentimental pieces, to this day we still don’t know the secret theme Elgar based these variations on – maybe you can solve the enigma!

AST Presents: Duo Quartet with Chris Webster, Nina Gerber, Pam Delgado & Jeri Jones

There is something richly satisfying in experiencing these four women onstage with a dynamic ranging from tender, ethereal songs to raucous barn-burners. Webster and Delgado sing most of the leads – Chris often expertly playing a washboard while Delgado drives the band with her percussion. But if this were a boxing ring you’d see coming in from opposite corners, the dueling energy of Jones and Gerber egging each other on – whipping the band and the audience into a veritable frenzy.

    Quarry Park Amphitheater Presents: Y & T

Before Mötley Crüe, before RATT, even before there was a Metallica, Y&T was slogging away in sweaty rock clubs around America. When the band formed in the early 1970s, little did they know they would set the standard for hard rock bands that trailed. Many of the biggest acts of the ’80s became popular opening for headliners Y&T—and cut their teeth on the band, as evidenced by the Y&T mentions in tell-all books by acts such as Metallica and Mötley Crüe.
