Newcastle Packing Shed Studios

Newcastle Packing Shed is a working Art Studio and Gallery featuring 10 artists.

Over a decade ago, one artist was renting studio space in the historic Newcastle Fruit Packing Shed. Soon, she was joined by another, then another, and now there are ten unique and talented artists occupying working studios in the 100+ year old building in the center of Old Town Newcastle, CA.

The high ceilings and original solid wood floors lend themselves well to studio and gallery use, and the common area is a comfortable place to sit and appreciate the artists’ current artworks on display or to enjoy watching the artists while they work.

Classes are also offered, taught by award winning experienced artists who call the Shed home. Other activities scheduled throughout the year include Open House events, Resident Artist Receptions, and participation in the annual Placer Artists Tour.

The gallery is open to the public Thursday-Saturday from noon to 4pm, with hours extended to 6pm on Friday evenings. From the Placer County Visitors Bureau, get on I-80 W from Maple Street, Union Street and Placer Street 2 min(0.3 mi). Follow I-80 W to Newcastle Road in Newcastle. Take exit 115 from I-80 W 3 min(3.4 mi). Take Old State Highway to Main Street.
