Holiday Events in Placer County

Holiday events abound in Placer County to celebrate the season. From tree lighting ceremonies and parades to tasting on the Wine Trail to finding the perfect Christmas Tree there are plenty of ways to get you in the festive mood.

November 29-December 8

Downtown Roseville Holiday Celebration Tree Grove – Come visit the Tree Grove and holiday festivities on the Town Square, Wednesday, November 29. Viewing of the trees and holiday music continues nightly through December 8. Local businesses, organizations and schools have the opportunity to decorate trees in the Square.

November 30

Roseville Tree Lighting – Gather in Vernon Street Town Square to celebrate Roseville’s tree lighting at 6pm with other holiday cheer including music, food, kids activity zones and cookie decorating along with a visit from Santa. The event runs from 6:00pm-8:00pm.

December 2

Lincoln Hometown Christmas – Parade, Tree Lighting and Faire. The event kicks off with the Holiday Faire from 4:30pm-8:30pm, Parade at 4:30pm, followed by tree lighting at 6:15pm all while enjoying Christmas music and a visit from Santa.

Rocklin Tree Lighting at Quarry Park – Beginning at 4pm, enjoy a holiday market with local artisans, live entertainment, food trucks and Santa with the tree lighting ceremony beginning at 7:00pm.

Foresthill Tree Lighting – Celebrate the season in Main Street Foresthill with music, hot cocoa, nativity scenes and live entertainment. Activities begin at 4:00pm with Santa arriving by firetruck at 5:00pm, and tree lighting at 6:00pm.

Loomis Tree Lighting – Gather at the Loomis Train Depot for an evening of family fun. Santa will arrive via firetruck at 5:00pm, with the tree lighting happing at 6:00pm.

Auburn Festival of Lights Parade – The Festival of Lights Parade is an Auburn family-favorite. Thousands of spectators line the streets to take in the magic of the holiday season and to cheer at festive costumes, bands, animals, delightfully decorated floats, and of course, Santa Claus. The theme of the parade is “Light Up The Season” and begins at Cherry Ave and Lincoln Way and ends at the Fairgrounds.

December 2-3

Holidays in the Hills on the Placer Wine Trail– Taste wines from local wineries and see them decorated for the Holidays. Sip, Shop & Explore Your Way Through the Placer Wine Trail. December 5

The Auburn Symphony’s Messiah Sing-Along – Join in this Auburn holiday favorite! It will be a merry and musical event with the Auburn Symphony.

December 9

Colfax Winterfest 2023 – Find yourself in the heart of Colfax, with its central historic town core sprinkled with festive vendors, Christmas carolers, and a holiday parade. Local neighborhoods participate with decorative lights adding cheer to the overall charm of this scenic town.

December 8-10

Holiday Pops Christmas Classics – Dietrich Theatre at Sierra College – Join us for an evening celebrating the most wonderful time of the year. With a cozy collection of traditional and contemporary Christmas classics, the Pops Chorale and Orchestra wish to spread good tidings this holiday season. Come listen to the exceptional voices and instrumentalists who will put a jingle in your step and warmth in your heart as you go about your holiday festivities.

December 9 & 16

Old Town Auburn Christmas – This classic Christmas event brings holiday cheer to Old Town Auburn. Gather and celebrate with your friends and neighbors this holiday season. Meet Santa, enjoy live music and performances, sip local craft brews & wine, indulge in delectable food, shop local and craft vendors, and warm yourself with mugs of cocoa, coffee or spirits.  5:00 pm – 9:00 pm, Streets of Old Town Auburn.

Christmas Tree Farms

What could be better than getting out in the fresh air and cutting down your own Christmas Tree for the perfect family tradition. Placer County is home to several Christmas Tree Farms to make magical holiday memories together.

Little Bear Tree Farm – home to 60 acres of Christmas trees in the quaint town of Alta. Take a ride up the hill in a vintage Willy Jeep, enjoy hot cocoa and find your perfect tree. Visit the gift shop for unique ornaments and holiday decor.

Snowy Peaks Tree Farm – located in Foresthill with a selection of Silver Tip and White Fir trees for you to cut down. Enjoy the bon fire and hot cocoa and weekend wagon rides to round out the day.

Gutherie Tree Farm – also located in Foresthill for fresh cut Christmas trees and handmade wreaths.
