While visiting Sugar Bowl much of the historic charm is still maintained within the modern resort. Touches of Austrian and Bavarian character.
The Hotel & Lodge at Sugar Bowl/Royal Gorge is perched atop Donner Summit, has been family owned since the beginning in 1939. The resort offer touches of Austrian character and Bavarian styling which offers the best now and great terrain for all skiers.
Travel I-80, towards Donner Summit. Exit 174, Norden/Soda Springs off ramp. Turn on Highway 40 eastbound, and continue 3 miles to Sugar Bowl’s Village Gondola parking lot. The covered parking lot is on your right. Or for faster access to the slopes and terrain park, continue on Highway 40 another 1/2 mile. Turn right at Sugar Bowl Road and park in one of three lots.
Tamarack Lodge is situated on nearly 4 acres of forest land at the edge of Burton Creek State Park, one mile east of Tahoe City.
Nestled at the base of the mountain, this ski-in/ski-out resort offers easy access to the village and the lifts. After a full day of exploring, nothing beats a long soak in the hot tub under the stars, except maybe falling asleep snug in your bed!
The resort offers direct beach access, a grill-style restaurant and free parking. Recreational facilities include boat and bike rentals, beach volleyball, lake tours and fishing, along with hiking trails.
