How to Volunteer!

Volunteer at California Welcome Center Auburn

Do you love living in Placer County? Do you like helping people? Do you want to learn more about the area’s interesting places to live? Come and be part of the California Welcome Center Tourism Ambassador Volunteer Program.

We are seeking outgoing individuals who are knowledgeable on the area, professional, friendly and who are interested in lending their expertise to visitors. The CWC Volunteer Program is an integral part of the Center as volunteers are the first to greet the visitor, offering directions and suggestions for places to visit in Placer County and beyond. You will meet and assist travelers from all over the world, and interact with other community volunteers and docents. There are also many other exciting opportunities for the volunteers at the Tourism Information Center and Gift Shop such as web site volunteer, write articles for our newsletter, update our calendar of events, put together information for weddings, company events, and reunions, attend and distribute information at local fairs, festivals, and celebrations.

The California Welcome Center is an official state certified visitor’s information agency specializing in a variety of tourism-based services. Visitors will be able to obtain travel planning advice, lodging reservations, snow park passes, guide maps, Internet access and even California and Placer County souvenir merchandise.

To prepare for the position, volunteers will have the opportunity to attend orientations, training seminars and area familiarization trips to gain a greater knowledge of local, regional and state tourism. The Center, located at 13411 Lincoln Way, Auburn, is open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Auburn site is one of 12 similar agencies strategically positioned across California. The CWCs are encouraged to prominently promote their region and give travelers a reason to stay in the area a little longer and to also represent the State.

For more information or to sign up for our CWC Travel Ambassador Volunteer Program, call Executive Director/CEO, Jan Decker at 530-887-2111.
