The Auburn Urban Development Authority is pleased to announce the completion of Phase 1 of the Streetscape Project with an official ribbon cutting ceremony. The ceremony will take place in the new Central Plaza on Wednesday, February 24th, 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm, near the intersection of High Street and Lincoln Way. The event will be hosted by the City of Auburn and the Auburn Chamber of Commerce, and will include music by No Hands Band. Barbeque Tri Tip & Chicken sandwiches will be sold by Virgil Traynor & his band of cooks (with proceeds going to benefit the Auburn Rotary). The Chamber of Commerce will be selling beer, wine, sodas and water.
Phase 1 of the Streetscape Project was centered on the intersection of Lincoln Way an High Street. The intersection has been realigned to create a plaza area and a four-way intersection. The plaza area includes three art pedestals, a firepit and seating area, planter pots, and a living Christmas tree which was imported from Oregon. The project also included the installation of stormwater filtration/attenuation swales in planting areas along the street. New architectural lighting was added to all the fronts o fthe buildings and the overhead utilities were replaced with underground utilities. The construction started on July 6th by Cook Engineering of Rancho Cordova.
